Bridges
Picture this: You are standing on a bridge suspended high
above the majestic Ganga River. A crisp, cool breeze is blowing,
rejuvenating your mind, body, and soul. But as you are enjoying the
wind, the bridge also starts to gently sway beneath your feet as you
soak in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. It’s one of
those rare experiences you are not likely to forget anytime soon.
An experience you can have, at the majestic Ram Jhula (Hindi word for
'swing’), a famous hanging bridge located in the heart of Rishikesh.
This iconic bridge is named after Lord Rama, one of the most important
gods in Hindu mythology. Spanning 450 feet, it connects the two banks of
the Ganga creating a serene passage for pedestrians. While you can’t
drive a four-wheeler on the bridge, cycles, and two-wheelers are allowed
on it. As you cross the bridge, you will be treated to panoramic views
of the river below, the lush hillsides, and the myriad temples dotting
the riverbanks.
With every passing moment on the Ram Jhula, you'll find yourself drawn
deeper into the mystical allure of Rishikesh, where the divine and the
earthly converge in perfect harmony, inviting you to embark on a journey
of self-discovery and inner peace.
