General Policy
Effective for all guests staying at ECHOS properties
ECHOS is a chain of backpacker hostels designed exclusively for adult travellers (aged 18 years and above) and operates on a community-living model. Guests below the age of 18 years ("Minors"), including infants and children, are strictly not permitted to stay at any of our properties. This restriction applies irrespective of whether the Minor is accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or any other adult. Exceptions to this policy apply only at designated properties as communicated at the time of booking. Accommodation of Minors at such specific properties shall be subject to additional property-level terms, documentation requirements, and management discretion.
ECHOS welcomes bookings and stays by unmarried couples across its properties, subject to compliance with applicable laws and hostel policies. Both guests must be above 18 years of age and are required to present valid, government-issued photo identification at the time of check-in. The management reserves the right to deny admission in cases of non-compliance with identification requirements or violation of house rules, subject to applicable laws.
ECHOS operates on a lean hospitality model, designed to promote independence, community engagement, and cost efficiency. As a backpacker hostel brand, we follow a self-service-oriented operating framework and do not provide certain traditional hotel services such as porterage, valet parking, or similar full-service amenities. This no-frills approach is integral to our business model and enables us to deliver a vibrant, high-quality hostel experience while maintaining accessible and affordable accommodation rates. Select amenities — including but not limited to locks, toiletries, and towels — are available on a chargeable, pay-as-you-use basis. Applicable charges are communicated transparently at the time of booking or check-in.
ECHOS operates as a technology-driven hospitality brand, integrating digital systems across key guest touchpoints to enhance efficiency, transparency, and service delivery. We actively leverage online platforms and digital infrastructure to streamline reservations, facilitate faster check-ins and check-outs, reduce physical paperwork, minimise wait times, and optimise overall operational efficiency. Guests may be required to complete certain formalities digitally, including but not limited to pre check-in procedures, identity verification, payments, and in-stay service requests. By booking with ECHOS, guests acknowledge and consent to the use of such digital processes as part of our standard service framework.
ECHOS is a pet-friendly hostel chain at select properties. At pet-permitted properties, pets are allowed strictly for guests who have booked private rooms. Pets are not permitted in dormitories under any circumstances. Pet owners shall be fully responsible for the behaviour, safety, hygiene, and supervision of their pets at all times during the stay. Any damage to property, furnishings, fixtures, or equipment caused by a pet shall be assessed by management and associated costs shall be recoverable from the pet owner. ECHOS reserves the right to deny admission or require removal of any pet in the event of non-compliance with this policy or if the pet is deemed disruptive, unsafe, or unhygienic.
Travellers seeking longer-term accommodation may explore our workation (7–30 days) and co-living (30+ days) options available on the ECHOS website. These offerings are designed to provide a structured, comfortable, and hassle-free extended stay experience. Guests are encouraged to review the specific terms, pricing, and eligibility criteria applicable to co-living bookings prior to confirmation.
The ECHOS Guest App is designed to enhance and streamline the overall guest experience through a technology-enabled service ecosystem. Through the app, guests can access and manage various services, including but not limited to:
(a) Contactless pre check-in
(b) In-stay service requests
(c) Food and beverage ordering
(d) Bike and car rental bookings (wherever available)
(e) Reviews and feedback submission
The platform is intended to provide a seamless, efficient, and self-managed travel experience while reducing physical touchpoints and wait times across our properties. Guests may be required to use the ECHOS app for certain services as part of our standard operating framework.
The ECHOS Cafe offers a curated selection of vegetarian-only food and beverage options for our guests. In keeping with our backpacking ethos and community-driven hospitality model, all cafe services operate on a self-service basis. Guests are requested to collect their orders from the designated counter and clear their tables after use to help maintain a shared and respectful dining environment.
All guests are required to present valid, original, government-issued photo identification at the time of check-in for age verification. ECHOS reserves the absolute right to refuse check-in, cancel bookings without refund, and/or remove guests from the premises in the event of non-compliance with this policy or misrepresentation of age at the time of booking or check-in.
10.1 Check-In Time
From 02:00 PM onwards. If arriving earlier, guests may relax in the common area or cafe until check-in time. Guests arriving prior to 7:00 AM are strongly advised to book accommodation for the previous night as well.
10.2 Check-Out Time
At 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out requests are subject to availability, at the discretion of the management, and may attract additional charges.
10.3 Visitor Hours (Non-Resident Guests)
9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Non-resident visitors are permitted only during the above hours and may be required to register at reception and present valid identification. Management reserves the right to restrict or deny visitor access at its discretion. Non-resident visitors shall not be allowed beyond the common areas.
10.4 Quiet Hours
From 10:00 PM onwards. Guests are requested to maintain silence in dormitories and common areas during quiet hours to ensure the comfort and rest of fellow guests.
10.5 Cafe Hours
9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Guests are requested to refer to the ECHOS app for any changes in timings.
All guests are mandatorily required to complete a contactless pre-arrival check-in through the ECHOS App. A link is shared via WhatsApp and email immediately upon confirmation of booking. Completion of this digital check-in process is a prerequisite for a smooth on-property check-in experience.
At the time of arrival, every guest must present a valid, original, Government-approved photo identification document. Accepted forms of identification include:
(f) Valid Passport
(g) Aadhaar Card
(h) Driving Licence
(i) Voter ID Card
For foreign nationals, it is mandatory to present the original passport along with a valid visa at the time of check-in. Please note that PAN cards, student ID cards, office ID cards, photocopies, digital copies (unless legally permitted), or any other unapproved forms of identification will not be accepted. ECHOS reserves the right to deny check-in without refund in the event of failure to comply with the above identification requirements.
ECHOS accepts the following modes of payment at its properties: Cash, Debit Cards, Credit Cards (including international cards), and UPI (Unified Payments Interface). All payments are subject to system availability and applicable banking regulations. ECHOS reserves the right to modify accepted payment modes at any time without prior notice.
100% advance payment is mandatory prior to check-in in order to secure and guarantee a confirmed booking at ECHOS. Bookings will be considered confirmed only upon receipt of complete payment. ECHOS reserves the right to deny check-in or release the booking in the event of non-payment or delayed payment.
ECHOS does not guarantee that multiple guests travelling together will be allocated beds in the same dormitory room or on the same floor. Allocation of rooms occurs in an automated manner, subject to availability at the time, and is entirely subject to system parameters.
Guests are solely responsible for the safety and security of their personal belongings and valuables at all times during their stay. ECHOS shall not be liable for any loss, theft, damage, or misplacement of personal items, whether occurring within guest rooms, dormitories, common areas, or any other part of the property. Guests are advised to use lockers (where provided), personal locks, and other reasonable precautions to safeguard their belongings.
ECHOS is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and community-oriented environment for all guests and staff. Any form of misconduct — including but not limited to harassment, abuse, intimidation, discrimination, vandalism, theft, trespassing, non-payment of dues, or behaviour that disrupts the safety, dignity, or comfort of other guests or staff — will not be tolerated. In the event of any such violation, ECHOS reserves the right to take appropriate action at its sole discretion, including immediate termination of stay without refund for any unused portion of the booking. Guests may additionally be blacklisted from future stays at ECHOS properties.
17.1 Drugs & Narcotics
Possession, consumption, distribution, or facilitation of illegal drugs or narcotic substances is strictly prohibited at all properties.
17.2 Alcohol
Consumption and possession of alcohol is prohibited at our hostels, except at properties where expressly permitted under specific hostel-level policies and in compliance with applicable local laws.
17.3 Outside Food
Outside food is not permitted at properties where an operational cafe is available. At properties without cafe facilities, outside food may be consumed only in designated common areas, as applicable.
17.4 Smoking
Smoking shall be permitted only in designated smoking areas within the properties.
17.5 Enforcement
Any breach of the above policies may result in strict action, including removal from the property without refund and, where necessary, reporting to relevant authorities. ECHOS further reserves the right to deny future bookings or declare a guest ineligible to stay at any of its properties in case of serious misconduct, repeated violations, or behaviour deemed harmful to the community environment.
17.6 Guest Acknowledgement
By confirming a booking and/or staying at our property, guests acknowledge and agree to abide by these terms.
Guests shall be held responsible for any loss of or damage to ECHOS's property, infrastructure, furnishings, fixtures, equipment, or amenities caused during their stay, whether due to negligence, misuse, or intentional act. The cost of repair, replacement, or restoration shall be assessed by management and shall be recoverable from the concerned guest at the sole discretion of ECHOS. Such charges may be collected immediately, adjusted against any security deposit (where applicable), or recovered through the original mode of payment. ECHOS reserves the right to take further action, including termination of stay without refund, in cases of significant or wilful damage.
All ECHOS properties are equipped with CCTV surveillance systems for the purposes of safety, security, and operational monitoring. CCTV cameras are installed in designated common areas and entry/exit points in accordance with applicable laws. Surveillance is conducted to help ensure the safety of guests, staff, and property. By entering the premises, guests acknowledge the presence of CCTV surveillance in designated common areas. ECHOS reserves the right to use CCTV footage for security investigations, internal review, and compliance with legal or regulatory requirements.
ECHOS does not operate individual property-level contact numbers for direct guest communication. For all enquiries, assistance, and support, guests may contact our centralised support team via WhatsApp, email, or the chatbot feature on our website. Support is available from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM and we endeavour to respond at the earliest opportunity.
ECHOS reserves the right of admission subject to applicable laws and reasonable grounds, including safety, security, violation of hostel policies, or operational limitations. Guests are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the comfort, safety, and well-being of others. Any behaviour deemed inappropriate, unlawful, disruptive, abusive, unsafe, or in violation of applicable laws or hostel policies may result in intervention by management — including, without limitation, issuance of warnings, removal from the premises, cancellation of booking without refund, and/or reporting the matter to relevant authorities where required. By confirming a booking and/or staying at our property, guests agree to abide by this policy and acknowledge the management's authority to enforce it in the interest of safety and community welfare.
